Violan® is the first felt made from plant and wood fibers, ie Violan® is made from renewable raw materials and is also vegan, as the colors used do not contain any microorganisms either.

In the manufacture of all our products, we have made it our goal, wherever possible, not to use fossil fuels, but to use environmentally friendly and renewable raw materials. So it made sense when we were looking for a supplement to our pure wool felt that polyester felts, even if they are upcycled, are out of the question for us, because their base is oil.

In our search for an alternative, we found the materials PLA and Lyocell to be the most suitable. PLA is made from corn and vegetable fibers and lyocell is a wood fiber that comes from sustainable forestry. Both fibers are characterized by their environmentally friendly and optimized manufacturing process and are 100% biodegradable. After numerous attempts, we have created a felt that has properties comparable to wool felt, but is purely vegetable. Violan® has a soft feel, has a temperature-balancing effect in hot and cold conditions and to make our design products suitable for everyday use, the material is even possible to clean Violan® in the washing machine at 30 degrees. It goes without saying that Violan® is completely non-toxic and can therefore also be used for children's toys, for example .

We produce Violan® in two versions: on the one hand as a mix of 70% plant fibers and 30% wood fibers in 12 mottled colors and on the other hand as pure plant fibers in 9 clear colors.

The thickness of the material is currently 1 - 4mm.

We are currently producing seat cushions, table tops, bags and a variety of other design objects from Violan®. In addition, we sell roll goods, so that the material Violan® can also be used in modern acoustic design solutions, interior furnishings or even children's toys.

Since we are only at the very beginning of the development with Violan®, we are looking forward to the diverse ideas for the use of this very special material.
